Wilma P. Mankiller Cherokee Capitol Park
The challenge they faced
CRUX Technology & Security Solutions provided technology and security systems design for the new Cherokee Nation Community Center as part of the Wilma P. Mankiller Capitol Park development in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The approximately 15-acre, $13.69 million community park honors the legacy of former Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Wilma P. Mankiller and features a community center, pavilion, amphitheater, walking trails, playground, stickball field, dog park, gardens, and other public amenities.
CRUX designed integrated technology infrastructure supporting the community center, pavilion, and site, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, mass notification, audio/visual systems, digital signage, structured cabling, network electronics, and intelligent LED lighting controls. The design also incorporated a Fiber-to-the-Edge (FTTE) network architecture and a centralized DC power distribution strategy to improve energy efficiency, reduce infrastructure requirements, and support the project’s long-term sustainability goals.
