Technology Designer

Summary of position

The Technology Designer is a blended role of client advocacy, project management, and systems design work.

Essential duties & responsibilities

• Serve as a consultant and client advocate, and as a subject-matter expert who presents design options to clients.
• Manage client relationships and ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget.
• Create and enhance technical designs and specifications for facilities infrastructure, including premise data distribution, audio/video, and physical security systems.
• Develop project scopes of work and manage schedules and budgets throughout the project.
• Coordinate and lead meetings with clients, architects, MEP, and other consultants during design phases.
• Model production drawings in Revit, integrating with architectural Revit models.
• Develop technical specifications and improve drawing packages, details, and views with Lead Designers and Consultants.
• Prepare answers to contractor RFIs and issue drawings for addendum changes.
• Perform quality control on project documents and installed infrastructure.
• Mentor Design Associates.

Essential qualifications

• Demonstrated skill to design in one or more of the technical disciplines CRUX engages in.
• Advanced design and project-management skills.
• Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong written and verbal communication; valid driver's license.

Desired education

Professional certification in a relevant design discipline such as RCDD (premise distribution), CTS (audio/visual), PSP (security), or CWNP (wireless).

Work environment & travel

Primarily an office environment, with roughly 50% of time spent with clients outside the office. Travel is primarily local, with some out-of-area and overnight travel expected. Reports to the Vice President. FLSA status: Exempt.
