Design Intern

Learn Autodesk tools to produce BIM drawings and support technology and security contract documents. Temp-to-permanent.

Summary of position

The Design Intern will learn Autodesk software tools to begin producing BIM model production drawings and participate in producing Technology and Security contract drawings. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity based on the employee's interest, performance, and adaptability. Approximately 40 hours per week.

Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Coordinate technology drawings with Designers and other consultants.
  • Prepare answers to contractor RFIs and issue drawings for addendum changes; support the Design Team with up-to-date backgrounds and drawing packages.
  • Perform quality control on technology and security documents, coordinating with MEP, architectural, and other consultants.
  • Attend client design meetings with the Designer and accurately record drawing changes.
  • Maintain the electronic document library, updating detail drawings as needed.
  • Learn and perform technology design tasks under the supervision of in-house professionals.

Essential qualifications

  • Willing to learn and work in Revit, AutoCAD, and other software the business uses.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired education

BICSI standards certification preferred; BICSI Fundamentals course completion is a requirement of continued employment and will be provided.

Work environment & travel

Primarily an office environment, with roughly 10% of time in the field. Travel is primarily local, with some out-of-area and overnight travel expected. Reports to the Director of Emerging Technology. FLSA status: Non-Exempt.
